HealthMPowers Celebrates 20th Anniversary

New website launches and series of events and announcements planned to celebrate

(NORCROSS, GA)—HealthMPowers is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of its founding. To mark this milestone, HealthMPowers will unveil a new website, recognize important Health Heroes throughout the year and host special events to share with its participants and partners the triumphs and challenges of the last 20 years, while looking forward to the future.

“We’re so excited to celebrate our 20th Anniversary throughout 2020,” said Christi Kay, President, HealthMPowers. “We’ve passionately dedicated these past two decades to empowering healthy habits and transforming environments where children live, learn and play. We’ve also experienced exceptional growth. Throughout 2020, we will take a look at where we started, what we’ve achieved and what our plans are for the future.”

A Year of Celebration

The future starts now. As HealthMPowers kicks off its yearlong anniversary celebration, the organization invites its participants, partners and supporters to recognize all that’s been achieved over the past two decades. Looking forward at the year ahead:

  • The New HealthMPowers.org—HealthMPowers has launched a new, content driven website redesigned to be more user-friendly. Visitors can stay up-to-date on what’s happening within the organization by signing up for a new quarterly e-newsletter or take a deep dive into the organization’s impact by reading success stories. Participants will still be able to log on and access valuable nutrition and physical education resources. Educators can get more information on how their school or site can become HealthMPowered.
  • 20th Anniversary Logo—HealthMPowers has been bringing nutrition education and physical activity to children for the past 20 years. The 20th Anniversary logo illustrates this beautifully and will be used throughout the year.
  • Recognition of Health Heroes—Health Heroes are students, teachers, community leaders, legislators, grocery store owners, etc. who have gone above and beyond to ensure all children are nourished and active.
  • 2nd Annual Kickoff for Kids Event—The second annual fundraiser will kick off college football season in September. Guests will break out the college tailgating attire while bidding on items in a silent auction to raise money for children’s health.
  • Stay tuned for more!

A Look Back

In 1999, founders Andy Isakson and Mary Johnson sought a way to counter the rising tide of health issues affecting Georgia’s children. After partnering with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Isakson Living, they created a mobile health program to bring empowering messages and experiences directly to elementary school students, staff and families.

Fast forward 20 years and HealthMPowers has expanded into early care centers, secondary schools, out of school time sites, like Boys and Girls Clubs and communities.

“The past 20 years have flown by,” said Andy Isakson, Founder, HealthMPowers. “From day one, we’ve made it a point to center Georgia’s children. Our success and growth are due to that continuing commitment to improving the lives of all Georgia’s children and families by giving them the support and education they need to make healthy choices.”
