Summary
HealthMPowers is seeking a contractor to lead as a health educator located in Central Georgia to provide direct nutrition and physical activity education, lessons, and programs to schools in the region.
Job Description
Position Type: Contractor
Reports To: Executive Program Director, K-12
Contract Length: January 2023
Pay: 500 hours for $40.80/hour
Essential Functions
- Attend one day (8 hours) onboarding training at Norcross office
- Provide support to 8 partnering schools while delivering nutrition or physical activity education lessons, training, programs, and technical assistance at each site
- Deliver all SNAP-Ed on-site services to assigned schools
- Ensure proper display of “And Justice for All” poster (version 475B) at all program locations
- Share knowledge with HealthMPowers staff for the benefit of our schools
- Communicate with project directors and other health educators as needed
- Complete report documentation following all services, programs, and training
- Maintain full and complete records of work completed
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health, Physical Education, Nutrition, Exercise Science, Public Health, or Education
Experience: Minimum 1-year experience in Nutrition, Health Science, Public Health, Urban Health, Education, or Youth Engagement or related field
Other Skills Required
- Ability to drive (or learn to drive) HealthMPowers van
- Ability to lift/push/carry/maneuver items up to 25 pounds
- Excellent event planning, organizational and time-management skills
- Strong research-based nutrition and physical activity knowledge
- Intermediate proficiency in computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office suite
- Public-speaking abilities, including the ability to inspire others
- Knowledge of the Georgia public school system and Georgia Standards of Excellence (strongly preferred)
- Experience working with high-need, low-resourced schools (preferred)

Travel
Some out-of-area and overnight travel is expected.
- A willingness to travel out of town at least one week per month
- A willingness to work non-standard hours and occasional weekends
