Crossing the Finish Line: Recapping Georgia’s 25 Million Minutes Movement

What a year, Georgia! When we launched the 25 Million Minutes campaign at the start of 2025, we set out with a bold mission: to celebrate 25 years of HealthMPowers by inspiring our state to move together. In partnership with the American Heart Association and the NFL Foundation (via NFL PLAY 60), we asked families, schools, and communities to help us log a staggering 25 million minutes of physical activity.

Today, as we look back on this marathon of a year, we aren’t just celebrating a number—we’re celebrating a movement that invited Georgia’s youth, families, and schools to rethink how movement fits into daily life.

A Year of Momentum

The campaign kicked off in February at the YMCA Villages of Carver, where students and leaders proudly took the pledge to “Get Moving Georgia.” From that moment on, the momentum spread statewide and was amplified by powerful media and partnership support.

  • Television & Radio: We shared our mission on Fox 5 Good Day Atlanta, Atlanta News First, and 95.5 WSB, where we discussed the critical link between physical activity and mental wellness.
  • Print & Digital: Features in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Atlanta Voice, FEMI Magazine, and Georgia Public Broadcasting helped us rally over 500 schools and community sites to join the cause.
  • Partnerships: We were featured at the Atlanta Vibe match on February 16, bringing the 25 Million Minutes message to a packed arena, connecting movement, women’s sports, and community wellness in a powerful way.

Highlights That Moved Us

The 25 Million Minutes campaign was about action, inclusion, and joy. Standout moments included:

  • The AJC Peachtree Road Race: Team HealthMPowers hit the pavement for the world’s largest 10K, adding thousands of minutes while celebrating our 25-year legacy.
  • Youth Leadership Summit: Over the summer, we brought together 26 youth leaders from 20 counties to reimagine, create, and advocate for more “active environments” in their own backyards.
  • Inclusive Innovation: Through our partnership with BlazeSports America, we introduced cordless jump ropes to our Jump Rope kits, ensuring that children of all abilities could participate.
  • Community Activation: From Murray County to downtown Atlanta, neighbors took the pledge at farmers markets, back-to-school celebrations, and even on the flag football field at Heritage High School, turning everyday moments into opportunities to move.

The Finish Line and Beyond

We didn’t just meet the challenge; we lived it. After a year of “Wellness Wednesdays,” school-wide dance parties, family fit nights, and commercial break challenges, we are thrilled to announce that Georgians collectively logged over 14 million minutes of movement. Though we fell a little short of our 25 Million Minute goal, each minute represents an intentional choice to move more and prioritize wellness.

While the 25 Million Minutes campaign officially comes to a close, the habits we’ve built are here to stay. This year proved that when we team up with powerhouse partners, like the American Heart Association and the NFL, and create opportunities for youth to participate and lead through action, we can spark momentum that shapes Georgia’s future.

Thank you, Georgia, for every step, every jump, and every minute. Here’s to the next 25 years of healthy, active, and empowered kids!
