Teens aren’t just witnessing community issues—they live them. In an effort to address issues that the HealthMPowers Youth Advisory Board members noticed were most prevalent in their communities, they have launched four social impact projects focused on sustainable ways to make a difference.

WellnessWithin is an initiative focused on promoting coping skills to teens. Board members working within this group have planned mini workshops that focus on sleep health, mood regulation, self-esteem, and building healthy relationships. WellnessWithin will be working with students at Bethune middle school and hope to work with high school students in the future. They will be using their Instagram account @the.wellnesswithin to share teen mental health tips with the public.

While mental wellness is essential, physical health is just as important. Step Forward launched a social media campaign that educates teenagers on the importance of physical activity. The group has been sharing daily fitness challenges and is currently hosting a giveaway to encourage those who engage with their Instagram @stepforward_yab. To participate in future giveaways, we encourage you to give them a follow!
Beyond wellness, the Giving Basket focuses on meeting basic community needs by helping the Fulton County homeless population with a food drive that will give them access to nutritious food. Members of this initiative are currently collecting food drive items and identifying sponsors. Stay tuned for more information on this event and ways you can help contribute!

Last but not least, the Glow Grub is a campaign that seeks to promote healthy lifestyle choices in teens. This dynamic initiative has launched giveaways that include gift cards and fitness equipment, and plans to post videos with healthy recipes and nutritional education. Glow Grub will be partnering with local schools to host a “Healthy Start Challenge” that will promote healthy breakfasts for students. To enter upcoming giveaways and receive nutritional content, follow this group @glowgrub.atl on Instagram.
Together, these student-led initiatives show how teens at HealthMPowers are turning awareness into action within their communities.
